WORK EXPERIENCE
Robotics Engineer Intern | Near Earth Autonomy Dec. 2020 – Jan. 2022
- Developed and tested ship landing simulation in Gazebo simulator
- Implemented and tested vision-based pose estimation by using ROS in ship landing simulation
- Fixed simulation texturing issues to get more accurate estimated pose in the simulation
- Integrated CNN with VLAD for vision-based place recognition research in GPS-denied fields
- Deployed and tested software for quadcopter fleet in the aircraft inspection team
- Simplified flight test procedure and make scripts more user-friendly for non-engineer to use
Research Assistant | Penn State University UAS Lab (PURL) Aug. 2018 – Aug. 2020
- Master Thesis: Stereo Camera Occupancy Grid Mapping (found by DARPA)
- Integrated Intel RealSense depth camera (D435) with VIO camera (T265) to implement real-time (~35 Hz) onboard SLAM on a tactical micro aerial vehicle in a GPS-denied indoor environment
- Built a 3D OpenGL visualization ground station GUI with socket interface for debugging and monitoring
- Designed a socket interface to integrate the 3D map which resulted in implementation by Virginia Tech’s path planning team
